1979 Yearbook Signatures

Here are the comments written in my 1979 Fort Pierce Central High School Hamadryad yearbook (edited for content, natch).

There are several comments about helping people in the Pre-College Rhetoric class. I don’t remember what that was about.

Re-reading comments from and about Steve Miller reminded me how hard I laughed when we talked together. I mean, like unable to catch your breath, pain in the gut laughing. I’m sure Mr. Sayles didn’t like it when we laughed out loud during band.

I don’t show up much in this yearbook for some reason. My picture looks like I am wearing sunglasses. Everybody else’s makes them look like extras from the movie Carrie.

Robby Austin

John, it’s been a great year and next year will be even greater. I wish you could’ve taught me to think like Bazaar in Pre-College Rhetoric this instead of me arguing all year with him. I don’t think he likes me, but it’s mutual. At any rate next year will be a great one (it has to be). The class of 80 will be the best yet. The 1980 band is going to be remembered for a long time. Good luck in the future. Robby Austin

Derek Bean

John, you were the example for the rest of us to follow in Pre-College Rhetoric. If you keep it up, you will go somewhere in life. Derek Bean

Mary Carter

John, just think… if I’m a squad leader next year, just think of how much fun we’re gonna have running those “little freshmen” into the ground. You’re a very nice person and I know you’ll go far into the world!! Good luck! Love, Mary

Yolanda Chapman

To: John
Even Though I will see you next year (possibly) I’ll still write you a few lines. I just want to say you’ve been around Steve so much you are starting to look like him. Just (Kidding). Good luck until next year. Good luck in the near future. “Love Ya” Yolanda Renee Chapman “c/o 80″

Stevin Dixson

To John
Your unbelievable. It’s been fun knowing you. Just fun (and I ain’t kidding). Sincerely, Stevin Dixson ‘79 P.S. I remember when I saw you in the holes (halls), I wondered about you. You look like something out of a comic book. Like Loki in Thor’s Hammer’s Book. But after Schwimmer’s class, oh boy, oh boy. Your something else. I mean what would your mother say if she heard some of the things you talked about. But after all, what is the world coming to? As the saying goes, the future is in your hands. I hope I am not around when it happens. I mean when in the future [edited]. Like I say, it’s been fun.

Ronnie Ford

John, you’re a helpful little guy. And very intelligent. Looking forward to knowing you better next year. Best wishes, Ronnie Ford “1981″

Rob Geller

John, you shouldn’t [edited] (just kidding). Good luck in whatever you do. Your friend, Rob Geller “81″

Tami Greene

John, next year is gonna be a lot of fun! Maybe we’ll sit together in Symphonic Band next year! Luv, Tami Greene

Lindy Hardegree

Bazaar’s class wouldn’t have been the same without you, Steve and Cheryl. Too bad our w.w. choir faded out, maybe next year. Good luck in the future & I’ll see you at band camp. Spirit of “80″ Lindy Hardegree

Mike Hankins

John, you have been a lot of help this year in band and maybe next year we can become better friends. Mike

Tina Jackson

John, best of luck in your endeavors, whatever they may be (and God knows what they may be!) Thankx for all the help in Pre-College Rhet. Boy, did I ever learn a lot. Class of 80 rules. Tina Jackson “Tiny”

Kim Krueger

We’ve had a terrific year in band and next year will be even better! Best of luck in all you do in the future! Love, Kim Krueger

Aldous Lang

John, I just want to tell you, all the help you have given me is [appreciated]. Aldous Lang

Cheryl Lantis

It’s been interesting this year, in class, as well as in the car, the mall or wherever. I’ve enjoyed our discussions and our rides. We’ve got one thing in common (a crazy friend by the name of Steve Miller). I hope that your future will be the best. I also hope you stay away from [edited]. They do not better your person. Now, I hate to nag, but be careful. You’re bright, nice and you’ve got a sweet personality. I don’t want you to lose any of that, okay? Stay sweet for me. Love, Cheryl Lantis P.S. I love what you wrote in my yearbook. Ah…you’re such a sweetheart!!

Mary Jo Loughlin

John, I have really enjoyed this year and playing music with you. I don’t know how you ever put up with me, but you see, when you’re a senior, strange things happen. You are an excellent clarinet player and I know you’ll be a fantastic section leader next year. Good luck with it. I don’t know if there’s any hope for Beta Club but maybe you can make something of it. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do. I know you’ll go far because you have the drive it takes. Have a great senior year. Love Ya, Mary Jo “79″

Steve Miller

[edited] don’t ever forget how it’s done. [edited] 3 years is a long time. But it’s not 3 just 2. But still two (2) years is a long time. Don’t ever (I know you won’t) forget the extremely rude things we talked about, too numerous to mention. But I’ll try: “I am homely and am having big fat legs, da?” Need I go on. (Joice) (Joyce) Fenell, Sharon Andric, Tharen D., Mony M., [edited] Cheryl, your mother, Geraldine, Frank, etc. [edited] Atlanta: Mike Little, etc…. Mr. Bazaar’s class where most of the “good” material originated. “Tina J.’s” encounter with [edited], etc.. All the gas used on transporting you home from school and to other functions <- (I like that word) function, function, function, etc.. I didn’t “really” mind, not really. Really. Really. I guess the only reason why we get along is because we laugh so much. [edited]. Cheryl Lantis. Her many problems. My very few (ha ha ha). Your having none (ooo) (ha ha ha). You’ve been a good friend, the only person I have been able to say the crude things without getting hit or looked at strangely. You are also the first person that I have ever been friends with that has an extremely good grade average. I hope you can maintain it so you can beat ugly Dianne Bazaar and become the valedictorian of ‘80. Band, I’ll never forget. How can I, I have been in it for 7 years. But band wouldn’t have probably been so amusing if you hadn’t been in it to. Well enough of the touching, sentimental, nice, heartwarming commentary. You are opinionated, you run your mouth too much, [edited]. Hi Elizabeth. I know you are reading this. I hope you find it stimulating. Mike Little, I know you will never forget him (ha)(ha)(ha). I just can’t touch on any one thing because there is so much to touch on. [edited] My paranoia is what you should forget. I am always thinking that somewhere, somebody is looking at me or thinking about me or talking about me, I know they’re not, it’s just my one hangup – (ha). Obligatory nasty word: [edited] Excuse me Elizabeth. Well, stay smart, beat that [edited] Dianne Bazaar. Oh well, not here. Oh, I am sorry spirit of Dianne Bazaar, forgive me. Stephen Thomas Miller

Vicki Patterson

I have tried so very hard to out seat you on the clarinet but each time I have failed. So now I am giving up hope in ever having the first chair, but if you ever make a mistake, look out. I will always be there to take up the slack. See you next year. Love, Vicki Patterson c/o “80″

Debbie Roberts

Well, a big Senior next year! Bet ya your excited! You’ve really got talent on the clarinet of yours and I hope you go far. I wish you the best of luck always cause you’re a great guy! See ya next year. Maybe we’ll have some classes together. Love ya, Debbie class of “81″

Felton Sayles

The past two years have been good and I am looking forward to next year. Work hard and show those state judges. FC Sayles

Penny Tucker

John, good luck in the future with school and whatever you may pursue. Keep up the good clarinet playing. “80″ Penny

Sherri Watts

It’s been great having you in math and Pre-College Rhet. to explain how to do everything for me. Have a fun summer. See you next year. Sherri

Marc Welhaven

John, It’s been really fun having you in Kuhn’s class. Boy, we gave her hell. Well, see you next year in band, friend. Mark W. P.S. don’t hang around Steve.

Lisa Whitcomb

John, how are ya, how are ya? Well, it’s been one hell of a first year for me at FPCHS, but I must say, it was fun. I can’t wait, next year, it’s Sr. Class! Thnks for helping me with the Algebra II and English work. Without you I would never see my Sr. year. And I’m really sorry about the band, You know how it is when you are too burnt out, but next yr it will be different (I hope). Mr. Bozo was a laugh, and a laugh was Steve, but then again, so was I (ha, ha). Remember me first and remember me last. Take care of yourself. May your dreams come true (unless [edited]). See ya next yr. in band. Love Ya, Lisa A.

Eva Williams

To: John, the Brainiac for the class of ‘80. Well John, it looks like we are not going to see each other for awhile. It was nice having you as a friend. You know that I love you. Good luck in all that you do. Friends always, Eva D. Williams c/o ‘79

Sara Winkler

You’re definitely one of the sweetest guys I know. I’m glad you’ll be back here next year. The band really needs you. Take care over the summer. See ya at band camp! Love, Sara “81″
